Malaria

MalariaMalaria is an insect-borne disease caused by the infection of Plasmodium by the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes or transfusion of the blood of a person carrying the Plasmodium. Clinically, it is characterized by recurrent intermittent chills, high fever, and relief after profuse sweating. People are generally susceptible to malaria, especially young children, pregnant women, elderly people, people with compromised immune systems, people infected with HIV, and people who travel to malaria-endemic areas are more susceptible to infection. Currently, malaria is still prevalent globally, and approximately 40% of the world's population lives in malaria-endemic areas. Malaria is the most serious disease on the African continent. Approximately 500 million people live in malaria-endemic areas, with the highest incidence in sub-Saharan Africa.

Diagnosis of Malaria

The related test methods for malaria include the following:

Routine blood test. Observe whether the number of red blood cells and hemoglobin counts are reduced. Thrombocytopenia may occur in severe patients.

Blood smear staining test. During the onset of chills, blood is collected and blood smears are made to look for malaria parasites.

Fluorescence staining. Fluorescence microscopy is used to search for malaria parasites, the detection speed is fast, and the detection rate is high. The immunology test is convenient and sensitive to detect the specific antigen and antibody of Plasmodium in blood. This method is mostly used in the epidemiological investigation of malaria.

PCR detection. PCR detection methods have been developed into a variety of methods on the original basis, such as nested PCR, reverse transcriptase PCR, PCR-ELISA and so on. The sensitivity and specificity of this method are both high.

Advantages of Our Products

Creative Biogene's test kit uses PCR, RT-PCR, immunochromatography and other methods to detect Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium novei, Plasmodium malaria and other pathogens in human whole blood to diagnose malaria.
