Lymphoma

Lymphoma CancerLymphoma is a malignant tumor originating from the lymphoid hematopoietic system. It is mainly manifested as painless lymphadenectasis, hepatosplenomegaly, the involvement of all tissues and organs throughout the body, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, night sweats, weight loss, and itching. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) are classified according to tumor cells. The incidence of NHL is much higher than that of HL, and it is the sum of a group of independent diseases with strong heterogeneity. It is generally believed that infection and immune factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of lymphoma, and genetic factors cannot be ignored.

Diagnosis of Lymphoma

Related diagnostic measures for lymphoma include the following four categories:

  • Physical examination. It is used to understand the general condition of the patient and check whether the lymph nodes in different areas are enlarged, the size of the liver and spleen, and the accompanying physical signs, etc.
  • Laboratory tests. Including routine blood tests, liver and kidney function tests, lactate dehydrogenase, β2-microglobulin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, hepatitis virus testing, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening and other related infectious and immunological diseases screening.
  • Imaging diagnosis. Imaging diagnosis plays an important role in the staging diagnosis, curative effect evaluation and prognosis prediction of lymphoma, including CT, MRI, PET-CT and ultrasound.
  • Pathological examination. As the clinical manifestations of the disease are complex and changeable, it is difficult to diagnose based on clinical and imaging examinations. Tissue biopsy is the only way to confirm malignant lymphoma. The pathological diagnosis of lymphoma requires the application of morphology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and lymphocyte antigen receptor gene rearrangement techniques.
