Monilial Vaginitis

Monilial VaginitisMonilia is a diploid fungus and a causal agent of opportunistic oral and genital infections in humans Under normal conditions, Monilia does not produce harmful effects, but overgrowth can cause candidiasis. Candida vaginitis is an inflammatory disease of the vagina caused by Candida infection, which mostly occurs in the vulva and vagina. The disease is contagious and is spread mainly through sexual intercourse. The main symptoms are thick and thick white secretions, and the patient has itching, pain, and other discomforts. Antifungal drugs can be used for treatment.

Diagnosis of Monilial Vaginitis

  • Vaginal discharge test. Diagnosis can be made when a wet preparation or a Gram's leucorrhea stain shows Candida pseudohyphae or spores.
  • Fungus culture and drug sensitivity test. Patients who do not heal for a long time, or patients with obvious symptoms but negative results of repeated microscopic examinations can have these two tests. The results can not only diagnose the disease, but also can be used as a guide for the treatment of antifungal drugs.
  • PCR test. The RT-PCR method is used to quantitatively detect Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Candida tropicalis.
