Pulmonary Embolism

Pulmonary EmbolismPulmonary embolism is a clinical pathophysiological syndrome in which various emboli in the systemic circulation block the pulmonary artery and cause pulmonary circulatory disorders. The most common pulmonary embolism is thrombosis. Pulmonary embolism caused by thrombosis is also called pulmonary thromboembolism. The patient suddenly has unexplained collapse, pale complexion, cold sweats, dyspnea, chest pain, coughing, and cerebral hypoxia symptoms such as extreme anxiety, fatigue, nausea, convulsions, and coma. In elderly people, the incidence of patients with a history of tumors, varicose veins, and venous thromboembolism is higher. Timely treatment can effectively reduce the risk of death from pulmonary embolism.

Diagnosis of Pulmonary Embolism

The test methods of myocardial infarction are as follows:

Plasma D-dimer. Plasma D-dimer is a non-specific marker, which is of great diagnostic value for suspected patients with moderate and low acute pulmonary embolism. Normal levels usually rule out pulmonary embolism, and high levels represent an increased possibility of pulmonary embolism. However, other factors may also cause an increase in plasma D-dimer, so its specificity is not that good.

CT pulmonary angiography. CT pulmonary angiography should be selected for patients with highly suspected pulmonary embolism who cannot be diagnosed or ruled out based on d-dimer levels. This method can accurately detect emboli in the pulmonary artery.

Other tests. It is also necessary to combine arterial blood gas analysis, blood coagulation related examinations, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray examination, and deep vein ultrasound examination of the lower extremities to help diagnose the disease.
