Group B Streptococcal Infection

Group B Streptococcal InfectionGroup B streptococcus refers to group B hemolytic streptococcus, which is gram-positive cocci. Under normal circumstances, it is colonized in the human vagina and rectum, and will not cause infection damage to people. However group B streptococcus is the primary pathogen of fetal and neonatal perinatal infection.. Group B streptococcus infection in newborns can cause neonatal sepsis, pneumonia, meningitis, and even death. Neonates recovering from infection may also have neurological sequelae, such as hydrocephalus and mental retardation. Group B streptococcus infection in pregnant women may also lead to undesirable pregnancy and childbirth complications such as premature rupture of membranes and late abortion. Newborns can be directly infected from their mothers, or from maternal genital tract colonies during delivery.

Diagnosis of Group B Streptococcal Infection

There are several methods to detect group B streptococcal infection:

  • Bacterial culture. Take blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, or local lesion samples for bacterial culture. If a positive strain is found, the diagnosis is confirmed. Bacterial culture is the standard procedure for the diagnosis of Streptococcus B. But the skin and mucous membranes are positive only indicate the presence of the bacteria.
  • Blood routine. Check white blood cells, white blood cell classification and C-reactive protein for abnormalities.
  • PCR detection. Through PCR technology, the DNA of Streptococcus B is detected to determine whether it is infected.

Advantages of Our Products

Creative Biogene's test kit is an in vitro diagnostic test that uses helicase-dependent amplification to amplify highly conserved fragments of the thiolase gene sequence to test group B streptococci directly and qualitatively from vaginal or rectal swabs. Our kit has accurate results, excellent sensitivity, and specificity, and is the best choice for your related research.

Creative Biogene focuses on the research and development of group B streptococcal infection diagnostic products. After years of unremitting efforts, we have become experts in the diagnostic field. We are committed to providing customers with the best products to help you quickly solve the problems in diagnostic research. We look forward to working with you for your cooperation.
