Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection

Respiratory Syncytial VirusRespiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common pathogen that causes respiratory infections. RSV infection can occur all year round, but mostly in winter and spring, and men are slightly higher than women. The main infected group is infants within one year of life, and it is more common in boys. The elderly and people with weakened immune systems may also get sick. RSV infection can cause upper respiratory tract symptoms such as fever, nasal congestion, pharyngitis and otitis media, as well as lower respiratory tract symptoms such as asthma, bronchitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. The virus can survive on the surface of various objects and unwashed hands for several hours. It can be infected by direct contact with virus-contaminated objects, direct contact or inhalation of aerosols.

Diagnosis of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection

The diagnostic methods for RSV infection are:

  • Auscultation. There may be diffuse rales, wheezing and other abnormal sounds in the lungs.
  • Blood test. The total number of white blood cells is normal or slightly decreased, the number of lymphocytes is relatively increased, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate is normal or increased, and the oxygen content in the blood is lower than normal.
  • Virus isolation. The virus can be isolated from the patient's nasal fluid, nasopharyngeal swab, blood and sputum by chicken embryo culture, animal inoculation and cell culture.
  • Pathogen detection. The immunofluorescence method can detect the RSV antigen in the respiratory secretions of patients, which is of diagnostic value.
  • Imaging examination. Chest X-ray examination of lung inflammation showed a slight or patchy shadow in both lungs. About one-third of cases had emphysema of different degrees.

Advantages of Our Products

Creative Biogene's RSV detection kits use real-time fluorescent PCR technology, take the highly conserved region of the RSV genome as the target area, design specific primers as well as fluorescent probes, and then perform PCR amplification on the target sequence to realize the qualitative detection of RSV nucleic acid in the sample. Our kits have outstanding performance in accuracy, sensitivity and specificity. We also provide RSV-related antibodies to assist in diagnosis.

Creative Biogene's skilled scientists have experience in developing excellent products in the field of RSV infection diagnosis. We will uphold the belief of pursuing high quality and the spirit of professionalism to provide you with our optimal products. You can choose us without hesitation.
