Adenovirus Infection

Adenovirus InfectionHuman adenovirus is a large group of DNA viruses that were first isolated from adenoid glands in 1953. There are 6 subtypes and more than 50 different serotypes. According to the investigation of human serum specific antibodies and virus isolation, it is known that adenovirus infection is very widespread. Adenovirus is easy to invade respiratory and digestive tract mucosa, eye conjunctiva, urinary tract and lymph nodes. The main clinical manifestations are acute upper respiratory tract infections, followed by eye and gastrointestinal infections. The population is generally susceptible. It is more common in children, accounting for 10% of childhood pneumonia infections, and about half of the patients are latent infections. There is no specific treatment for adenovirus infection, and severe patients can manage the disease by treating the symptoms and complications of the infection.

Diagnosis of Adenovirus Infection

There are several methods to diagnose adenovirus infection:

  • Rapid diagnosis. Stain the exfoliated cell smears taken out from the pharynx with polyvalent adenovirus immunofluorescence serum. Bright fluorescence in the exfoliated cell nuclei can be seen under a fluorescence microscope, which indicates that the virus is positive.
  • Virus isolation. The passaged monolayer human epithelial cells are inoculated with the patient's pharyngeal secretions, sputum, conjunctival scraping and fresh urine, and typical cytopathic changes can be detected after 2 to 7 days.
  • Serological examination. Take double serum from the acute phase and the recovery phase to detect the growth of complement fixation antibodies, neutralizing antibodies and hemagglutination inhibitor antibodies.
  • Molecular diagnosis. Take respiratory specimens and use PCR to amplify adenovirus-specific gene fragments for diagnosis.

Advantages of Our Products

Creative Biogene's adenovirus infection diagnosis products are mainly detection kits, using real-time PCR technology, flow measurement immunoassay, etc., to qualitatively detect adenovirus antigens in nasopharyngeal swabs, thereby effectively diagnosing the disease. Our kits are complete, simple to operate, highly accurate, highly specific, and have no cross-reaction with other respiratory pathogens.

Creative Biogene focuses on the research and development of adenovirus infection diagnostic products. After years of unremitting efforts, we have become experts in the diagnostic field. We are committed to providing customers with the best products to help you quickly solve the problems in diagnostic research. We look forward to working with you for your cooperation.
