Human Rhinovirus Infection

Human RhinovirusHuman rhinovirus (HRV) infection is an acute upper respiratory tract infection caused by rhinovirus. HRV occurs throughout the year, with a high incidence in winter, which can be transmitted through direct contact or air droplets. The clinical symptoms are headache, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, etc. Almost two-thirds of upper respiratory tract infections are caused by rhinovirus. Rhinovirus are usually highly infected in children under 5 years of age with respiratory diseases. Several studies have shown that HRV infection is the main cause of acute attacks or exacerbations of asthma. In addition, rhinoviruses are associated with chronic pulmonary disease, sinusitis, and otitis media. At the same time, HRV infection in respiratory diseases can cause multiple infection or mixed infection together with other viruses and bacteria.

Diagnosis of Human Rhinovirus Infection

As respiratory tract infections have similar clinical symptoms and signs, the etiological diagnosis basically relies on laboratory tests, which mainly include the following diagnostic methods:

  • Isolation, culture and identification of rhinovirus. This method can simulate the natural growth process of the virus, detect a variety of different viruses, and is expected to discover unknown viruses, obtain virus strains, and study their physiological characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms.
  • Immunological test. Virus antigen detection is suitable for viruses that have fewer serotypes and cannot proliferate in conventional cell culture. Rhinovirus antigens are detected by methods such as immunofluorescence antibodies, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and other methods with virus-specific antibodies.
  • Serological diagnosis. It is a diagnostic method for detecting virus-specific antibodies in host serum, including complement fixation test, hemagglutination inhibition test, indirect immunofluorescence and enzyme-linked immunosorbent test.
  • Viral nucleic acid detection. PCR technology is the most common rhinovirus detection method, which can directly detect the specific nucleic acid sequence of the pathogen.

Advantages of Our Products

Creative Biogene's rhinovirus diagnostic products are mainly real-time fluorescent PCR kits, which take the highly conserved region of the rhinovirus genome as the target area, design specific primers and fluorescent probes, then amplify the target sequence by PCR and qualitatively detect rhinovirus. Our products are convenient and fast, with high sensitivity, accuracy and specificity.

Creative Biogene has a professional team of experts who developed quality HRV infection diagnostic products. Our products are competitive in the market due to their reasonable price and high quality, which can help you solve the diagnosis problem quickly. We look forward to working with you for your cooperation.
