Hepatitis G

Hepatitis GHepatitis G is caused by infection with hepatitis G virus (HGV). The clinical manifestations of hepatitis G are similar to acute hepatitis, and it can also be prevalent in fulminant hepatitis. The transmission route has been confirmed to be blood-borne. Those at risk include people undergoing hemodialysis and medical personnel who have been exposed to blood sources. In addition, intravenous drug use is another important way. In patients with intravenous drug injection, the detection rate of serum hepatitis G virus RNA reached 11.6%. Pregnant women infected with hepatitis G virus have a mother-to-child transmission rate can reach up to 33%. The focus of hepatitis G prevention is to check blood transfusion; early detection, early prevention and treatment.

Diagnosis of Hepatitis G

There are several methods to detect hepatitis G:

  • Routine examination of liver function. Detect various indicators related to liver function metabolism to reflect the basic status of liver function.
  • Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Detect HGV RNA, about 1 week after infection with hepatitis G virus, HGV RNA can be detected in the serum. RT-PCR method can be used as an early diagnosis of hepatitis G virus infection.
  • PT-PCT law. Detection of HGV gene fragments in specimens is the most commonly used method for diagnosing HGV infection. At present, the HGV envelope protein E2 has been expressed in the eukaryotic system, and an ELISA method for detecting E2 antibodies has been established. Since the appearance of E2 antibody is related to the disappearance of HGV RNA, the detection of E2 antibody is considered to be a sign of recovery from HGV infection.
