The tetratricopeptide repeat is also called cervical cancer proto oncogene 8 protein, it is a structural motif. It consists of 34 degenerate amino acid sequence motifes and is recognized in many proteins. It occurs in a series of 3, 16 motives that form scaffolds to mediate protein-protein interactions, and is also commonly used in the assembly of multi-protein complexes. These repeats are usually folded together to produce a single linear solenoid region called the TPR region.
