TFPT/FB1 is one of the three fusion partners of E2A gene. TFPT/FB1 is expressed at low levels in a variety of human tissues, including hematopoietic cell lines from different lineages. However, due to the database sequence comparison failed to find that the TFPT/FB1 protein has strong homology with known proteins, the function of the presumed TFPT/FB1 protein is currently unclear. The E2A-TFPT/FB1 fusion seems to be a recurring feature of pre-b ALLs, suggesting that it may play a role in the development and/or progression of leukemia.
