This gene encodes HTLV-1 tax1 binding protein. The encoded protein interacts with TNFAIP3, and inhibits tnf-induced apoptosis by mediating the anti-apoptotic activity of TNFAIP3. The degradation of caspase-3 like family proteins is related to TNF-induced apoptosis. The protein may also play a role in inhibiting inflammation signaling pathways. Another splice transcription variant encoding a different isoform has been found for this gene.
