Spindlin 1 (SPIN1) is a stage-specific embryonic protein. It is reported that there are a large number of maternal transcripts in unfertilized eggs and 2-cell, but not 8-cell stage embryos. Spindlin 1 is phosphorylated in a cell cycle-dependent manner and undergoes post-translational modification during the first meiotic cycle. The antibody is directed against spindlin1, but not other spindlins, such as SPIN2 and SPIN3.
