Prostate cancer rapid diagnostic test

The PCA 3 test is the first urine-based molecular test. It can help determine whether men who have previously had a negative biopsy need a prostate biopsy and provide doctors with important clinical information when diagnosing prostate cancer. PCA3 is a prostate-specific gene that is highly overexpressed in prostate cancer. PCA3 test is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test that measures the concentration of prostate cancer gene 3 (PCA3) and prostate specific antigen (PSA) RNA molecules in male urine samples after digital rectal examination (DRE).
