PKM2, also known as Cytosolic thyroid hormone binding protein, belongs to the pyruvate kinase family. Glycolytic enzymes catalyze the transfer of the phosphate group of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to ADP to generate ATP. It stimulates pou5f1-mediated transcriptional activation. PKM2 plays a universal role in caspase-independent tumor cell death. The activity of M2 subtype (but not M1 subtype) can be inhibited by tyrosine kinase signaling in tumor cells. The pre-tumor pyruvate kinase subtype is PK-M1; however, the main subtype of the four independent tumors is PK-M2. PKM2, pyruvate kinase isoenzyme M1/M2, has two subtypes. The immunogen of this antibody is M2 subtype, also known as PKM2.
