Pre-B-cell leukemia homeobox 4 (PBX4), also known as homeobox protein PBX4, is one of the homology domains encoded by the pbx gene. It contains transcriptional regulators that can interact with other proteins to control embryogenesis and tumorigenesis . The expression of pbx4 is confined to the testis, especially in spermatocytes in the pachytene stage before the first meiosis. PBX4 may form heterodimers with other homeobox genes to determine the different developmental fate of vertebrate embryogenesis. A trimer complex containing Pbx4, Meis3 and Hoxb1b was also formed. The molecular weight of PBX4 is approximately 41 kDa, while the molecular weight of the heterodimer is approximately 70 kDa.
