NUCB2 is an anorexic molecule, mainly expressed in the hypothalamus, especially in the supraoptic nucleus (SON) and paraventricular nucleus (PVN). NUCB2 is also expressed in the subfornix organs (SFO). Since SON and PVN are involved in body fluid regulation, NUCB2 may be involved in anorexia caused by dehydration. NUCB2 consists of a signal peptide consisting of 24 amino acids at the n-terminal and a pre-protein structure containing 396 amino acids.
