Application: | Resistin (or 'resistance to insulin') was originally discovered in mice in 2001 and named for its ability to resist (interfere with) insulin action; at that time, it was proposed as a link between obesity and diabetes (PMID: 11201732). Mouse resistin is an 11 kDa cysteine-rich polypeptide, and its gene is located on chromosome 8. It is synthesized as a 114 amino acid precursor, with a 20 aa signal sequence and a 94 aa mature segment (PMID: 21545576). Neuroprotective nature of adipokine resistin in the early stages of focal cerebral ischemia in a stroke mouse model suggests that resistin may have a therapeutic potential effect in management of neurodegenerative disease (PMID: 29408288). |
This test kit is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse Thrombopoietin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse Thrombopoietin. The assay recognizes mouse Thrombopoietin. An antibody specific for mouse Thrombopoietin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse Thrombopoietin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for mouse Thrombopoietin is added to detect the captured mouse Thrombopoietin protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.
