Application: | Leptin is a 16 kDa adipocyte-derived hormone, and it has attracted interest in the field of obesity research due to its role in the regulation of energy balance. Leptin, secreted from adipose tissues in proportion to the fat store, acts in the hypothalamus to regulate feeding behavior. leptin has also been shown to play an essential role in tumorigenesis, tumor progression, and metastasis, due to its oncogenic, mitogenic, pro-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic actions. Mutations in this gene and/or its regulatory regions cause severe obesity, and morbid obesity with hypogonadism. Leptin has also been linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus development. |
This test kit is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The Mouse NGAL ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse NGAL. The assay recognizes mouse NGAL. An antibody specific for mouse NGAL has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse NGAL protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for mouse NGAL is added to detect the captured mouse NGAL protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.
