Application: | GM-CSF, also known as Csf2, is a monomeric glycoprotein secreted by macrophages, T cells, mast cells, NK cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts that functions as a cytokine. GM-CSF was first characterized as a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of myeloid cells from bone-marrow progenitors. GM-CSF is now recognized as an important activating and differentiation factor for immune cells, and is essential for a wide range of biological processes in both innate and adaptive immunity. GM-CSF has been shown to protect against pulmonary infection and intestinal inflammation, and it is necessary for normal pulmonary and colon homeostasis. |
This test kit is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The IL-1β ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous IL-1β. The assay recognizes mouse IL-1β. An antibody specific for IL-1β has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The IL-1β protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for IL-1β is added to detect the captured IL-1β protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.
