Moesin belongs to the ERM family and is a cross-linking agent between actin and the cytoskeleton of actin. ERM proteins provide structural linkages that strengthen the cell cortex and promote several key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics, substrate adhesion, cell survival, cell adhesion, and movement. The function of ERM protein is highly dependent on the conformational changes induced by phosphorylation under stimulation of growth factors, chemokines and antigens.
