This gene encodes an oncoprotein that is thought to play a role in the phenotypic determination of hematopoietic cells. The translocation between this gene and nucleophilic protein is related to myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia. It has been found that this gene encodes multiple transcriptional variants of different subtypes.
