Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1 belongs to the caspase-like protein superfamily. MALT1 plays a potential role in regulating cell apoptosis and inducing NFKB activation, which is necessary for the normal development of B cells and the activation of IKK complexes. It acts as a caspase and mediates additional functions related to T cell activation, and simultaneously cleaves the C-terminus of ubiquitin editing enzymes TNFAIP3 and BCL10. Studies have shown that inhibition of MALT1 can block the cleavage of A20 and BCL10, reduce NFKB activity, and reduce the expression of NFKB target BCLXL.
