This gene is a member of the melanoma antigen gene (MAGE) family. This family of proteins is a tumor-specific antigen and can be recognized by autolysed T lymphocytes. This protein contains a large number of unique short repeats before the MAGE-homologous sequence, so it is about 800 aa longer than other MAGE proteins.
