MAGEA1 is the first gene reported to encode a human tumor antigen defined by ctl. It may play a role in embryonic development and tumor transformation or tumor progression. Autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes recognize melanoma antigens. MAGEA1 directly proves that the cDNA expression library is an effective strategy for identifying genes encoding tumor antigens that HLA restricts T cell recognition. The antibody is specific for MAGEA1.
