Leucine-rich alpha-2 glycoprotein (LRG) is a secreted type 1 acute-phase protein. During microbial infections and cancer, the level of LRG in the blood increases, which may be the liver's response to pro-inflammatory cytokines the result of. It is known that LRG plays a role in the adhesion interaction between lymphocytes and endothelial cells. LRG may help control the formation of granulocytes by helping to regulate the surface expression of different receptor types, including transforming growth factor receptor, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor, and possibly macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor.
