In the last step of anaerobic glycolysis, lactate dehydrogenase C catalyzes the conversion of l-lactic acid and NAD into pyruvate and NADH. LDHC is testis specific and belongs to the lactate dehydrogenase family. Two different transcription variants were detected in the 5'untranslated region.
