LDHA, also known as LDH-M and NY-REN-59, is an enzyme that catalyzes the mutual conversion of pyruvate and l-lactic acid, accompanied by the mutual conversion of NADH and NAD+. LDHA is found in most somatic tissues, but mainly in muscle tissues and tumors, and belongs to the lactate dehydrogenase family. It has long been known that many human cancers have higher LDHA levels than normal tissues. Studies have also shown that LDHA plays an important role in the occurrence, invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors. Mutations in LDHA are associated with exertional myoglobinuria.
