Kinidin is a kind of serine protease which has many physiological functions. There is growing evidence that many of these peptides are associated with cancer, and some may serve as biomarkers for new cancers and other diseases. In tissue culture, the enzyme was found to generate amyloid protein fragments from amyloid precursor proteins, suggesting that the enzyme may also be associated with Alzheimer's disease.
