KIF15 belongs to the kinin-like protein family and the KLP2 subfamily. It is a positive-end directed motor protein-like kinesin, involved in the assembly of mitotic spindles. Due to the selectivity of splicing, there are several isomers of KIF15 with a molecular weight between 130-160 kDa. Sometimes a higher molecular weight of about 200 kDa can be observed, which may be an improved variant of KIF15.
