IL2 is a secreted cytokine that participates in the operation and regulation of the immune system. IL2 plays a key role in T cell activation and effector functions, including T cell proliferation, interferon and cytotoxicity. IL2 can stimulate the proliferation of lymphocytes, induce cytotoxic T lymphocytes and lymphokine-activated killer cells of tumor cells. IL2 also affects memory T cell homeostasis by regulating the number of memory T cells, and enhances the expression of major histocompatibility complex II on tumor cells.
