IL24 has anti-proliferative properties on melanoma cells and may help terminal cell differentiation. Oncogene-induced IL24 may support tumor growth in the early stages of cancer. The observed molecular weight of IL24 is between 25 and 35kda, which is higher than the estimated molecular weight of 23kda. This difference may be due to post-translational modifications, such as glycosylation of endogenously produced molecules.
