IL-19 is a member of the IL-10 cytokine family and is expressed in epithelial cells, endothelial cells and macrophages. IL-19 induces monocytes to produce IL-6 and tnf -. It also induces apoptosis and the production of reactive oxygen species in monocytes, which indicates the role of this cytokine in the inflammatory response. It is upregulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor in monocytes. IL-19 changes the balance of Th1 and Th2 cells, which is beneficial to Th2 cells. IL-19 causes a series of diseases and disorders, such as breast cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, asthma, endotoxin shock, uremia, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, periodontal and vascular diseases.
