Enzyme immunoassay qualitatively and quantitatively determine the IgA antibody against gliadin in human serum. Antibodies against gliadin (a gluten component) and tissue transglutaminase (tTG) are of great significance in the diagnosis of celiac disease. tTG has been identified as the main target antigen of EMA, an antibody that binds to the intramuscular membrane in indirect immunofluorescence analysis (IFA). Gliadin antibodies may be the only serological indicator in newborns, because there are no autoantibodies against tTG or EMA at this age. Therefore, anti-gliadin antibody is the earliest serological marker for pediatricians in the diagnosis of celiac disease
