This gene is also called renal carcinoma antigen NY-REN-53, and the protein it encodes is a peripheral membrane protein located in the trans-Golgi network. It is sensitive to brefeldin A, the encoded protein that contains a gripping area and is thought to be used for aiming. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variations.
