Galactosin is an animal lectin, defined by a shared characteristic amino acid sequence and its affinity for galactose-containing oligosaccharides. Galactosin-3 contains a carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) and an n-terminal domain rich in proline and glycine, which can form oligomers. Galactosin-3 is widely expressed in many normal tissues and many tumors. It exists in the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell, or is secreted outside the cell, on the cell surface or in the extracellular space. Galactosin-3 participates in various biological processes such as cell growth, adhesion, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, immune response, tumor transformation and metastasis.
