This kit is used for the qualitative and quantitative determination of double-stranded (ds) DNA IgG antibodies in human serum by enzyme immunoassay. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune-mediated chronic inflammatory disease with a variety of clinical manifestations, ranging from local skin lesions to destructive systemic diseases without skin changes. Double-stranded (ds) DNA antibody is a well-known specific marker of SLE, and its prevalence is 50-90% depending on the severity of the disease. Their potency is usually related to disease activity and provides a tool to control treatment. The circulating DNA/anti-DNA immune complex is believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of SLE.
