CCND1 (cyclin D1) belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, and its members have a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance throughout the cell cycle. CCND1 forms a complex with CDK4 or CDK6 and acts as a regulatory subunit of CDK4 or CDK6. Its activity is necessary for the G1/S transition of the cell cycle. It has been reported that the CCND1 gene located at 11q13 is overexpressed in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) due to chromosomal translocation. CCND1 has been confirmed to interact with the tumor suppressor protein Rb, and the expression of this gene is positively regulated by Rb. It is known that the overexpression of CCND1 is related to the early onset of cancer and the risk of tumor progression and metastasis.
