This gene encodes a multi-channel membrane protein that belongs to the CXC chemokine receptor family. It is expressed in mature b-cells and Burkitt lymphoma. This cytokine receptor binds to the B lymphocyte chemotactic agent (BLC) and participates in the migration of b cells to the b cell follicles of the spleen and Peyer's plaque. Alternative splicing transcription variants encoding different subtypes have been described as this gene.
