Clusterin is a highly conserved disulfide-linked secreted heterodiglycan protein. It has been proposed that cluster protein, as an extracellular chaperone, stabilizes the stress protein in a foldable state, and this protein participates in programmed cell death. Another important function of Clusterin is its induction in many serious physiological disorders, including renal degenerative diseases, prostate and vesicular cancer, ovarian cancer and some neurodegenerative diseases. Recent studies have shown that serum Clusterin levels are significantly increased in patients with diabetes type II and patients with developing coronary heart disease or myocardial infarction. In addition, urinary cluster protein also helps to distinguish tubular and glomerular proteinuria.
