Human Club cell protein (CC16) is a member of the secreted globin family of the protein and is a secreted product of non-ciliated bronchial Club cells. Its function has yet to be fully elucidated, but convincing data indicate its role as an immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory drug. Club cell protein inhibits phospholipase A2 activity and interferon gamma signaling and Th1 ys. Many studies have been conducted since 1994, including serum, plasma and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. In serum, its increase is related to age and exposure to asbestos, nitrogen chloride and ozone. Patients with sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and high PEEP ventilation have higher levels of CC16. According to the above report, club cell protein may be a useful method to diagnose lung diseases and injuries.
