The kit is designed to detect AT-rich alpha satellite sequences in the centromeric region of chromosome 12 in conjunction with conventional diagnostic cytogenetic tests.It has been suggested as an adjunct to standard cytogenetic analysis for identification and enumeration of chromosome 12 by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in the interlymphocyte nucleus of peripheral blood in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
