CD20 is a 33-37 kDa transmembrane phosphoprotein and a surface molecule of B-lymphocytes. It is widely expressed during the ontogenesis of B-cells, from the early stage of pre-B cell development to the final differentiation into plasma cells. CD20 acts as a calcium ion permeation channel. It is involved in regulating the activation and proliferation of BC-cells. CD20 can be used as a useful target for antibody-mediated depletion of B-cells.
