Bcl2 monoclonal antibody

Bcl2 is a member of the B-cell lymphoma 2 protein family. Members of this family regulate cell death in many cell types and have pro-apoptotic or anti-apoptotic activities. The protein encoded by this gene inhibits mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis. This protein is a complete mitochondrial outer membrane protein, part of the signaling pathway that controls mitochondrial permeability under the stimulation of apoptosis. The protein may also play a role in neuronal cell survival and autophagy. Abnormal expression of this gene and chromosomal translocation are associated with cancer progression in many tissues.
