Bclx is a member of the bcl2 protein family and has the function of regulating cell apoptosis. It may provide neuroprotection against ischemic brain injury. There are two isomers of Bcl x, Bcl xl (long) is a 241 amino acid protein, and Bcl xs (short) is a 178 amino acid protein, lacking 63 amino acid domains, which is well conserved among members of the Bcl2 family. The anti-apoptotic activity of subtype Bcl-X(L) is inhibited by SIVA subtype 1. Inhibit the activation of caspase. It binds to the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) and prevents the release of the caspase activator cytochrome c from the mitochondrial membrane, thereby regulating cell death. Bcl-X(S) subtype promotes apoptosis.
