Column1: | TMEM16A, also known as DOG1 (Discovered on gastrointestinal stromal tumors protein 1) or ANO1 (anoctamin 1), is a 986 amino acid multi-channel membrane protein located in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. TMEM16A is expressed in a variety of tissues with the highest expression levels in skeletal muscle and liver, and its function is calcium-activated chloride channel necessary for normal tracheal development. Human TMEM16A has 90% sequence identity with mouse TMEM16A, indicating that it has a conservative effect among species. TMEM16A exists in gastrointestinal stromal tumors, breast cancer and gastric cancer, suggesting that TMEM16A plays a role in carcinogenesis. |
